WTVN-TV (WSYX) "News 6" video clip from 1973
Here's a brief clip of a News 6 Newscast from the 1970's on WTVN-TV. The anchorman is Jack Gallagher, who went on to other markets, most famously on KDFW in Dallas.
I think this is him now:

Super Duper Commercial 1977
Переглядів 3,7 тис.5 років тому
This commercial is from a Buffalo TV station during their 1977 Blizzard, however the same exact commercials ran here in Columbus. When you see the graphic at the end showing the counties in the Buffalo area, here you would see Franklin and surrounding counties.

Most of the videos I've uploaded here have catchy jingles and this video is no exception. I loved this jingle when it used to air on the radio. I also wanted to give Triad and its video vault a little more exposure since this video deserves to have way more than the 46 hits this video has gotten on their site! (Now imagine that for a minute: This obscure UA-cam Channel giving a plug to an estab...
Kroger Commercial (Barney's Cleveland; 1984)
Переглядів 8 тис.13 років тому
Here is a 1984 commercial for the Barney's Discount Supermarkets in Cleveland. Barney's was owned by Kroger and the stores, of course, were named after Barney Kroger. They even play the "Let's Go Krogering" jingle. The voice over announcer in the middle of the commercials is "The Real" Steve Edwards, a former DJ on WNCI in Columbus. Steve Edwards also did the voiceovers for Columbus stores.
Fazio's Supermarkets Commercial - 1980
Переглядів 8 тис.13 років тому
A commercial for Fazio's Supermarkets from 1980. Fazio's was a fixture in Columbus throughout most of the 1970's, though they had exited the Columbus area by this time. Most Columbus Fazio's stores were located adjacent to Gold Circle Department stores, although one Fazio's was briefly located at the Hamilton Road Ontario store.

What an iconic memory. Maybe I'm imagining it but I seem to recall that this ad won an Emmy at one point. It really is kind of perfect.
This reminds me of the fountain in front of the Sears at Montgomery Mall in Bethesda MD. Rectangular black marble basin with several arc-jets. Christmas memory.
Iam the cheated one🙋♀️😂

Both magazines and kwikee marts own by local companies are now pretty much gone except here.
This is not 1995. This is 1993. Because of Richard's hairstyle at the time. This is the early days of the show's renamed brand. The studio had more color to show the wild nature of this show. Before it was a more steril "9BP" grey, as I call it. It was "9 Broadcast Plaza," although, the show in 1990 was starting to air more hard R subject matter (which is enough to get it a hard R, a hard TV-MA, and an 18 by Schengen Area rating advisory board and BBFC)
Lawson's is HUGE in Japan now, but there's only TWO stores left in the U.S ☹
The first guy is kind of handsome but the rest... hell no
I remember the super duper on james road in columbus. I loved the elephant sign.
i believe now is more than ever, the decade of greed...companies are out to make a profit at any cost...fuck this decade...
I always loved the sound effects from this show lol
Anyone remember The Big Show? Late night I think Saturday ?
Feeling nostalgic and so I come back yet again after another 7 years :-) for one further note. I just love the vibe this signoff gives. With all those clips of ordinary life in Columbus circa 1987, and that wonderfully cozy, happy music (uplifting in that sort of generic '80s stock-music way), for my money this among all the vintage Columbus sign-offs is easily the FRIENDLIEST one. Now I'll go away again and age for another decade. Lol
The like of Brother Jed are now in charge of MAGA

Grew up in Dayton Ohio - many memories of my dad pulling up the Ford wagon and my mom, sister, and me running in to “grab a few things” at Lawson’s ❤️
I was 10 years old when this Gold Circle going out of business sale commercial aired. I remember it clearly like it was yesterday! Crazy how 35 years have flipped by like the snap of a finger
He was a poor host.
:39 The mobile truck featuring all the Crosley Stations: WLW-T (Cincinnati), WLW-D (Dayton, now WDTN), WLW-C (Columbus, now WCMH), WLW-I (Indianapolis, now WTHR) and WLW-A (Atlanta, now WXIA)
And another underlying trait of a narcissist is that they yell as a way of being heard and interrupt you and try to confuse you, they try to make you feel small/weak. These are some sick people! Using gods name in VAIN!!!! And because someone is wearing an earring makes them gayyyyy? What kind of low down sh*t is that? Man wears pink-gayyy women doesn’t wear make up gayyyy. Women drives truck-gayyyyy. Hot head wears stockings --gayyyyyy( to cover up legs i mean) so quick to judge!!!! Something about the Bible saying not to judge others or you too will be judged. How many times have they judged people in this short clip? They must constantly be judging people and shaming them and then to say whose going to hell… pick and choose!
You're a sinner. Gross.
Why are they so upset? That is how a follower of Christ acts? With so much anger and hatred. Projection is a real thing.
Nothing about this show was Howard Stern like
We went to Super Duper on the day of the Blizzard and stocked up before it got to us. When we went into the store it was almost warm outside. When we came out it was easy 20 degrees Fahrenheit colder. And when we got home 15 minutes later it was cold cold! By the next morning our house was covered! I sure wish UA-cam had a " Click 1 pic" per comment. They could even let AI sort out what to block. I'd put a pic of our house covered in snow.
I was singing this today. I remember this commercial and the store so fondly. Thank you for posting.
I was totally convinced that it was a true retro commercial, up until I heard the MIDI synth-infused jingle at around 0:12 , and the extreme sports bit after that happened.
Mason was all over the tv..
We used to go to the Super Duper in SilverCreek on route 20/5
Just saw an article saying that 92.9 is losing its license and that the new letters might be WXGT, gettin some folks thinking it could be 92x "rising from the ashes"
Can I get one of your videos?
Heros and Icons needs to return Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rodgers in the 25th Century.
This commercial was later spoofed by the music video for Neil Young's "This Note For You".

August 5, 1977
I was on that episode but can't find my part
The managers at the Hills I worked at in Florence, KY were the biggest bunch of buffoons. They took themselves way too seriously. When you called out sick, one manager would say that it would be marked as an unexcused absence. Our 300 pound loss prevention manager would occasionally get in a mood and relentlessly belittle other employees. He once coached another employee on how to smart off to a customer and had me clean a toilet even though I wasn’t the janitor. They treated us all like thieves. In fact, the mentality of this company seemed to be that everyone was a thief. Then, I was constantly harassed by a group of other coworkers to the point that I feared for my safety and felt I couldn’t do anything about it. Living in a very backwoods area, I had a very limited frame of reference at the time, but in hindsight some of them were psychotic and dangerous. They called me “college boy”. (What?!?!). What a bunch of losers! I finished school and went on to a successful career.

I never met the "twins" but I did know his son well. We just called him Tanji and he was a really nice guy that talked highly of his father. :)
Is it just me, or did that woman have crazy eyes? Especially when she said "do it now." 😳
I accidentally figured out how that chilling sound was made by fooling around with my Telecaster and an Echoplex.
